Turning the Corner

The Conservative government released their much anticipated emissions-reduction plan today Turning the Corner.  Canadian industry will bear the brunt of the 18% reduction measures in emissions output by 2012 and under this plan will only meet its current Kyoto commitments between 2020-2025.  It was pretty self-evident before the announcement that the Canadian natural resource sector (oil, forestry, metals, hydro, etc.) was the easy target to achieve real reduction measures before creative juices would need to start flowing as to innovative solutions for the Canadian economy.  It should go without notice that on the Canadian west coast British Columbia has appeared to join forces under the lead direction of California to establish an emissions-trading system that includes various western states.  What should be taking away by these current actions is that something is better than nothing!
