The British Columbian government is developing a carbon-credit program for individual residents of the province. Once enacted, the program will allow citizens to offset their carbon footprint by investing in provincial-sponsored initiatives. Apparently these measures are the first of its kind in Canada that allows an individual to purchase carbon credits and have the funds re-invested in your own backyard. It’s nice to see a form of government move into this fairly-new industry as there is some need for proper forms of regulation to insure that individual funds invested are being properly directed to eco-friendly projects.
