The Ontario provincial government will be introducing as early as next summer an eco- license plate for Ontario motorists who drive low-emission vehicles. Although most of the details for having an eco-license plate are still in the air, areas such as usage of car-pool lanes, preferred city parking, tax-rebates, etc. are among some of the many incentives that could emerge over the coming year. What appears to be on the upside is that the provincial government is assembling a panel of experts from the automotive industry to environmentalists to look at cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles for qualification. It would be an added touch if it comes to light that all fuel-efficient vehicles not just hybrids qualify for these incentives.
