FYI…CBC’s National is presenting a series Road Stories: The Big Melt which is looking at the changing Arctic landscape due impart to global warming. On tonight’s edition they will be going aboard the Canadian research icebreaker Amundsen and look at some of the scientific studies that will be taking place over the next 15-months. The Amundsen will be making its way to Banks Island in the western portion of the Canadian Arctic next month where it will eventually embed itself in an icepack for the winter. From my understanding this is the first time a Canadian Coast Guard vessel has wintered in the high Arctic region of Canada.
