This is a NASA satellite image from September 16th highlighting the record-setting reductions in sea ice during the 2007 melt season. Looking at the image in detail it’s apparent that the majority of melt occurred off the northwest coast of Alaska. It’s understandable that the Nordic nations (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland) all of which lay claim to Arctic territory are sounding alarm bells to accelerate government action to reduce GHG emissions.
