Environment Canada made the record-setting Arctic sea ice melt their number one weather story of 2007. Environment Canada considers the size of the affected area and the economic impact on Canadians as criteria when selecting their top ten weather stories of the year. Among other weather-related stories that made the top ten included: floods in British Columbia, early blast of winter felt cross-country this December, Prairie summer heat, etc.
